Sheeps and Peeps

Lambs and sheep are just the cutest little things. Sheep have always been my favorite animal ever since I can remember. Never did I think I would own them, though. Now we have a small flock of sheep and even a flock of birds too! Sheep are such interesting creatures. I have learned so much just by having them here and working with them daily. We own a small flock of pure Shetland Sheep, and they are the greatest. We are very new to having sheep and are learning so much and making new friends along the way. Now we are sheep-people, sheeple if you would.

We have learned about ages in ewes and rams, how to score them and keep them healthy, what they can and cannot eat, and so much more. I love the blogging part of this site because as we learn and find out new exciting things we can share them here with all of you. I find that very exciting.

We have chosen to have a small flock of sheep, chickens, ducks, and may even incorporate piglets later on down the road. We have a three year old daughter who adores all of the animals, who loves to help garden and retrieve all of the fruits and veggies. She also helps make a lot of products as well. It truly is a team effort from the whole family. We are excited to have raw wool next year for hand spinning.

I wanted to use this first post as a little introduction for us. My husband and I have worked very hard and continue to work hard every day in order to make this a possibility. My husband and I are both in our early thirties and as mentioned previously, we have one child. Our daughter has ASD, SPD, tic, etc. She is the most amazing child we have ever met and our reason for everything we do. She is obsessed with tractors and farm animals. She loves all of the elements. So we decided to start a small farm to benefit all of us, and it was the best decision we ever made!
