N-Ewe Year Already Here
Well hello fellow Camarian Lovers! Hope everyone had a delightful holiday season and you all stayed healthy, happy, and safe! We did too. I cannot believe how fast the time has been going by. Our hands have been so full lately and I am sad I haven’t had the chance to get on here and update you all. We have been busy little bees here on Camarian Farms with so many new and fun things happening. First off, Happy New Year! I cannot believe we are in 2022! I feel like we just scrambled right through the entire month of December! We had a wonderful Christmas season. With so much pain and uncertainty in the world we were glad to stay home just us, without company, and relax and enjoy the day together. Which is HUGE change of pace for us. You see, what happened was I was supposed to work both Christmas eve and Christmas day this year, but everyone I work with ended up with the virus a couple weeks prior to Christmas. We usually host Christmas for both sides of our families, so it’s a huge deal for like over 50 people that come see us on Christmas, but because I was supposed to work it we opted out of hosting this year. Then everyone at work had to stay out in quarantine. Luckily most of them were due back on Christmas eve, so the very few of us who did not catch covid worked the solid two weeks straight. Then my boss was super nice and gave us who worked the whole Christmas weekend off, which was incredible! We were absolutely exhausted by that weekend too so it was extra nice to be off.
Then my daughter who just turned 4 this month was really excited, and it was her first Christmas she truly understood and was excited to open gifts, which made it even better to be home. So we decided to break out the fine china and tea sets for just us, we stayed in our new PJ’s all day and had this beautiful meal together and played games just us. It was blissful. The animals were all happy playing in the snow and prancing around. Of course getting their special Christmas treats too! After Christmas we are still going strong since most of the children on both sides of our families were born in December and January, we spent all January running from birthday party to birthday party. Which brings me to some more big news for us, we have decided to open a baked goods side of the farm!
I am so very excited about this because I love baking, but this is so neat because it allows us to make specialty cakes and cupcakes and all sorts of nice yummy things with farm fresh ingredients! Just think of Grandma in her kitchen making you the delicious cakes and things she used to make, or at least mine does! Take that amount of love, care, and dedication and mix it with our farm fresh ingredients. You can see the creations of Camarian Farms on our Facebook page, Camarian Farms. Any baked goods made by Camarian Farms we are calling Camarian Farms Confections (CFC), and we have made a few cakes already in just the short time we have started baked goods! You can place an order on our website under services, or message us for a quote on Facebook if you are interested in any baked goods.
In other news we have recently processed three of our pigs and received quite a big batch of pork products. The pigs have made some delicious bacon, sausage, roasts, hams, and more! We cured and smoked our hams and bacon here on the farm naturally with zero nitrates! It was definitely an experience and well worth it. We still have our two Guinea Hogs growing strong. We believe the female hog might be pregnant. Speaking of pregnant animals we are expecting lambs in the spring! We are 90 percent sure our older ewe, Pearl is pregnant as well! If we are correct we could see lambs here on the farm anywhere between late February and early April depending on the actual date of conception. We are so excited to see what is in store for the near future.
My husband is very excited as well. He received an incubator for Christmas. He must have been super duper good last year! *wink, wink* So now we are able to hatch chicks and ducklings to order as well. He cannot wait to start hatching them, and even received a special habitat for them after they are hatched. Chicks and ducklings need to be in a warm and safe environment after they are first hatched. Most people do not realize until they do it themselves or learn about it for some reason or another, that birds cannot go straight to the coop. They have to wait until they receive their feathers for a better chance of survival. Matt is also very excited to announce that we will have turkeys for sale pretty soon too. They are already listed on our website. You can reserve your Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Years turkey now! They sell out very fast so be sure to reserve yours straight away! For a twenty dollar deposit per turkey, you will have a turkey set aside for you. Once it is ready you will receive a notification that your bird is ready for pick-up and it will be fully dressed and ready to go into the oven or the freezer, depending on when you want to eat it. Turkeys are free range and fed the best diet. No chemicals or pesticides are used on the farm. Turkeys will be $5.00 per pound, with the non-refundable $20.00 deposit to reserve it. The deposit DOES count towards your final price. For example if your turkey cost $50.00 then at the time of pick-up or delivery you would just pay the remaining balance of $30.00. Deliveries can be made for an additional fee depending on your location.
I think we might have you all caught up for now. I will try and get the blog updated quicker so it doesn’t seem like you are waiting so long to see what is new with Camarian Farms. Between the farm life, work life, my daughter’s school life, and everything else in the middle we just never stop. We continue to receive God’s greatest blessings and we are so thankful for Him, and for you. Check out our website to see what is new on the farm, and in the farm stand! We now have Camarian Farms merch too which are all locally made and dyed. We have received quite a few reviews regarding our home made candles and are prepared to alter them slightly, making some different sizes available. If you have any ideas, feedback, questions, or comments feel free to get in touch with us! We appreciate you and your support in our family run farm.
The farm has been such a wonderful thing for our daughter. As most of you know she was diagnosed last year with ASD, SPD, TICS, and ERLD. She loves the animals and helps Mommy and Daddy with feedings and all sorts of things. She was so excited to get her very own wheelbarrow to help with stall mucking. I think she is headed for the 4-H club when she is older. The farm has been such a blessing for her, and all of us really. She is so happy to be out there collecting eggs and watching the birds chirp, and the sheep hop around. She likes the pigs too but doesn’t get too close to them. She really seems to enjoy the ducks company though. It is so cute. She will follow one of the female ducks all around the pasture, and the duck will actually stop and wait for her. Then the other ducks will follow her, following the female duck! It is so funny and adorable to watch. You can see it on our Facebook page and a bunch of other awesome things we are doing on the farm.
Valentines day is coming up soon and she has to make some valentines day cards for her class. So we sat down and chose a theme and are getting our supplies together. Yes it is farm themed valentines cards! We will have to post them after because they are lamb cards and goodies! Be sure to swing by and check it out! Until next time stay safe, be smart, and know you are loved and appreciated.
With love,
Camarian Farms
